Peregrine Falcon rescue - July 2, 2024
This young Peregrine Falcon flew from its nest for the first time on July 2, 2024. That was the good news. The bad news was it found its way to the roof of a vehicle not far from the nest site. To help keep this falcon safe it was captured and moved to the roof of my office which is located next to the nest site.

So sweet! I get these Red Headed Woodpeckers a lot in my yard. They're calling everywhere and sometimes even chasing each other! How silly these guys are! They should be one of the more popular species of woodpecker.
Always love your videos. I'd hoped you'd comment on the stabilizer modes (1,2,3) on the lens body. My understanding is 1 is for still, 2 is panning, and 3 is for erratic subjects. Keep the videos coming!
I hear Buoy!!!
Greta job!!
Quite a day Shawn - well done.
Nicely done Shawn.
This is epic🔥🔥
Very tempting Shawn. You might find me trailing after you sooner than later....
It’s a fantastic place to visit but I not sure I would want to be there with the heat and humidity of June, July and August.
Awesome stuff
Wow--fabulous
The great blue herons are beautiful birds! 🐦⬛=❤️
Glad I came across this video. Thanks a bunch guys!
What is your control method to get rid of Sturnus vulgaris that attempt to use these boxes?
I lived and worked through out eastern Connecticut and never was aware of the Kestrel ,and I loved the outdoors I'm way past my prime to be any help but Thank you for sharing. ❤
❤❤❤
Gret stuff Shawn! I hope it is not too late to book accomodation for this Summer.
great video Shawn. What time of the year did you visit Grimsey? Which inn were you staying at? thanks for sharing your experience
I’d like to give this a try! Do you worry about using the camera with sandy hands? I guess sandy scares me a bit with my camera. I shoot with the R5 100-500.
Just a note, this is posted as not suitable for all audiences?

Thank you very much for the video and the information. I enjoy your channel.
Awesome photos
Very nice video. I always felt like the full frame shots have more of a (lack of a better way to describe it), scientific feel to them. where the wide frame composition tells the story if you will.
Are you a salesman or a photographer ?
Honestly can't think of anything else to say except, great video filled with lots of information. Are you thinking of marketing your custom video sled?
Chris, glad you enjoyed this video and thanks for watching. As for that custom sled that was made by a friend that is a retired machinist.
Good to see you Shawn. Really great video, in fact I forwarded it to our club.
well done Shawn!
as usual ,great video do you sit mostly or do you do what Mike does for photos thanks ..
Joe, it depends on the situation and the birds but I do a little of both. For some shorebirds like Black-bellied Plovers you really need to be flat on the ground. For Semipalmated Sandpipers, Dunlin and Semipalmated Plovers they will tolerate you just being on your knees or sitting.
thanks for the reply,i am always on my knees for shorebirds to old to letdown ,but I get great results @@ShawnCarey01
Great information Shawn! Great photos and video.
Magnetic strip car window blinds what a brilliant idea. Really enjoyed this video some great photo tips. Thank you.
John, thanks for your comment and glad you enjoyed this video. Check out some of the Shots (videos) I've been posting the past several months and let me know what you think.
So fantastic 🙏🏼🇺🇸
Spectacular!
very cool!
I hope to return again in a few years and spend at least ten days...it was that GOOD!!
nice, @@ShawnCarey01 Someday, I'd like to make the trip, too
Thanks for the review! My first concern is if there is any play in the mount, so if you have it level and tighten the horizontal, does it remain level? Second is the fluidity of movement with zero jitter. Then thirdly which is purely taste "drag" which would only be a niggle when it comes to astrophotography, small gentle movements while observing craters of the moon. So I am sold on this gimbal. Also here in New Zealand you can buy a variety of cheap $50-$100 gimbals, but i would rather pay for what it is worth than a cheap gimbal with no reviews, or reviewed where the locking mechanism starts failing.
I have for the most part moved away from using a Gimbal head except with my Skimmer ground pod for shorebird photography. Now for the most part I use the FlexShooter head, less weight, much better drag and IMO just a better design.
Shawn, I love how they gather in the parking lot.
Thanks for the video - been there, seen them, love the video

Cool.. I have the same setup. Living in Africa now but will head to Vancouver's inward passage to get some eagle and bear shots. This video is encouraging. Thanks
Fascinating birds! Funny cod dogs 😊
Great post! Love to speak with you about what it takes to get there! Love to go!
You can go to my web site where you will see my contact page and send me an email. Happy to reply with additional details.
Enjoyed this one! Thank
Excellent advise, lovely photos.
First time I see a review of a stool in wildlife photograpy :-) And it's very important too. I rather take the stool than my tripod if I have to choose. I use a little plastic foldable kitchen thingy, and people often wonder why I lug that thing around on the back of my backpak. A knee-protector for working in the garden is usefull too, and it fits in the computer part of your backpack.
I found your video because I just read an article about their decline, and how they live off of horseshoe crab eggs, it's now 2023 and the big debate about how horsecrab blue blood is harvested for medical studies puts the crab at risk of smaller numbers in there population and how it also effects the red knot. Just thought anyone reading this 13 yrs from now would like a history lesson 😊
Beautiful Bird!!!
Tree Swallow in a natural setting - very nice to see.
The best
Mommy
